Infrared and Ultraviolet Therapy is a physical therapy method that utilizes various types of electromagnetic radiation, including invisible infrared and ultraviolet radiation, as well as visible light. This also encompasses sunlight, which is used in heliotherapy.
In our practice, we use the Sollux lamp for infrared irradiation, which is equipped with both red and blue filters. Each filter has a distinct effect and is chosen based on the specific needs of the patient.
- Red Filter: Allows infrared radiation to pass through, which has anti-inflammatory and stimulating effects.
- Blue Filter: Passes primarily visible blue light, which has a soothing, calming, and pain-relieving effect.
Indications for this therapy include:
- Neuralgia
- Muscle pain
- Carbuncles
- Inflammatory tissue conditions
- Wounds that are slow to heal
