Cardiology consultation

Cardiology consultation consists of two stages:

  1. Subjective examination, i.e. an interview with the patient, during which the doctor asks the patient to describe complaints and symptoms of concern. The specialist then asks questions about lifestyle, stimulants used (smoking, alcohol), family (family history, i.e. the presence in the family - mother, father, siblings - of cardiovascular diseases, deaths from heart attack, stroke), hospital stays and medications used. Questions about the circumstances of symptoms, frequency and duration, and severity are also an important part of the interview.
  2. The physical examination, or (physical) examination of the patient's body. The cardiologist examines the blood pressure in both upper extremities. He then auscultates the heart and lungs, thus obtaining information on the state of the cardiovascular system.  At this stage, he may also perform an EKG or ultrasound of the heart.

After a detailed examination of the patient and analysis of the results obtained, the doctor makes a decision on further treatment. Conclusions drawn by the cardiologist during both the subject and physical examination are the basis for referring the patient for possible further tests, and then implementing targeted treatment.

    The visit lasts 30min.
